WHAT WE ARE DOING

The Wilderness is an undeveloped 0.33 acre green space at Whitehall Primary School in the heart of inner-city east Bristol.  It currently looks like this:

We are turning it into a wildlife wonderland for our school community with plans for:

- a forest school play kitchen;
- shelters made from natural materials;
- a log circle with fire pit;
- meadows of pollinator plants and flowers;
- a polytunnel for growing vegetables and herbs;
- rainwater harvesting equipment; and
- new native trees and shrubs.

Our vision is to create a tranquil green space for outdoor learning while increasing the biodiversity of the site, creating new wildlife habitats and bringing greater understanding of the natural world on our doorstep to our school community.

We need to raise about £20,000 to deliver the Wilderness project and as of June 2023 we have raised £12,000 through grant fundraising with two more funds still to hear back from this summer.

Each bank account can only pledge once to receive match funding. If you pledge again to this page, further pledges will not be trebled.  The maximum amount Aviva will match per pledge is £250.

HOW YOU CAN HELP US

We need funding to help the school to deliver the full project during the next few months so that it can be opened up for regular outdoor learning sessions for the children.  They will be able to learn about the wildlife on their doorstep, develop new habitats, build skills around growing and harvesting food, help with maintenance of the site and enjoy this relaxed green space.

REWARDS

We're offering a limited number of rewards of Whitehall Primary School recipe books for £5 donations and risograph prints created by two brilliant local artists, Naomi Wilkinson and Dixon Does Doodles for £10 donations.
