White Castle Vineyard's first vines were planted by Robb and Nicola in 2009, in the beautiful rolling countryside of Monmouthshire in the village of llanvethereine.
A dream became reality for Nicola once she finally convinced Robb that planting a vineyard and working together was something they could achieve and create a lifestyle change for themselves.
The first planting consisted of 4000 vines, they now have 10000 vines planted on gentle slopes that are ideal for growing vines and ripening grapes for Welsh wine.
White Castle is dedicated to producing a variety of quality Welsh wines using first class viticulture practices.
Our wines have won multiple awards locally, nationally and worldwide.
Winning a gold at Decanter world wine awards 2021 with our home grown Pinot Noir Précoce Reserve 2018 underpins everything we strive to achieve in producing quality Welsh wine here at white castle vineyard.
Again in 2022 Decanter world wine awards White Castle Pinot Noir Précoce 2019 gained a silver award, such accolades are again a feather in the cap for Robb and Nicola and have certainly put Wales on the map as a wine producing region.
We both attended Plumpton college to further our knowledge on viticulture and understand the process of establishing a vineyard and developing a renowned wine business.
We offer vineyard tours followed by wine tasting all of our wines are made from estate grown grapes. We share our experiences with visitors from early beginnings to the present day “From the land we love, wines we are proud of”.
Our wines have been made by a contract winemaker since our first vintage in 2011 and we are involved every step of the way.
The time has come for us to take the next step and have the winemaking process here at home at White castle vineyard.
The new wine processing facility will provide cost savings, increase control of supply chain and create new, permanent employment. It will also strengthen the provenance of Welsh wines. The funding will allow the business to process, monitor, and bottle the wine in-house, minimizing waste and improving quality from picking to bottling and onward sales. Additionally, bringing such processes in-house will reduce carbon emissions.
WCV will be able to say “Grown in Wales- Produced in Wales”. Establishment of the winery will strengthen the increasing profile of Welsh wines both within the UK and overseas
To date white castle vineyard has gained world wide recognition for their wines. The vineyard has the first commercial planting of Cabernet Franc that in itself is a clear indication of how Robb and Nicola strive to become trail blazers in the ever growing world of viticulture.
In order to make this happen we need your help to raise the cash to fund the winery equipment.
To have a winery in Wales in the not too distant future is our vision.
Quality, estate grown grapes, processed in Wales. Quality Welsh wine.
Our ethos is Quality Provenance and integrity and by having a winery on site here at White Castle Vineyard we shall address all three.
This would allow White Castle Vineyard to become an exclusive visitor experience, a secure base and platform on which to grow.. A site where its easy for people to visit us, see what we are doing and get involved, an all inclusive approach with means of access to all.
