Whiskers & Cream is nearly two years old and like most small businesses is battling against the financial and emotional costs of Covid -19.  However, with the help of the Mayor of London 'Pay It Forward Scheme’ we are determined not to be beaten and to continue to offer a haven for cat lovers.   

Even during lockdown the Whiskers & Cream cats bring pleasure to the local community.  Every few minutes there are faces at the window, young and old interacting with the cats bringing huge smiles and happiness to what may be an otherwise grey day.    

We pride ourselves on being a very accessible cat café for all and welcome children, adults and those with disabilities.  Whiskers & Cream employs extra staff and keep customer numbers small so that both the cats and humans have an enjoyable time.   

The loyal staff at Whiskers & Cream are continuing to look after the cats to ensure they have activity, care and continuity whilst they remain in their own home at Whiskers & Cream during lockdown.    Many of the team have been at Whiskers & Cream since opening and have weathered a number of challenges and are committed to working towards reopening after the latest lockdown.  

Crowd funding support with the ‘London Pay It Forward Scheme’ will help us to;

• Fund fixed costs when closed due to lockdown such as rent, electricity, cat food, cat litter and vets bills and staff wages.
• Set up an online shopping cart to support our finances during lockdown\s.  We strive to purchase most of our merchandise from UK companies and producers and have already commissioned fair trade UK printed tote bags.   We also support a London based home crafter who makes bespoke items for Whiskers & Cream and are in the process of commissioning another small local business to provide bespoke merchandise.                                 
• Purchase movable screens to enhance infection control within the café
• Offer individual sessions for small groups who have disabilities.
• Support staff that are not eligible for the Furlough scheme

This project successfully funded on 22nd December 2020
