We would like to redevelop the Narwhal Ensemble's debut show 'Whey Down South' before taking the show on tour!
by hbovey in Plymouth, England, United Kingdom
We are The Narwhal Ensemble, a new theatre company based in Plymouth. In July 2017 we performed our debut show 'Whey Down South' in the Theatre Royal Plymouth's LAB space, marking the end of a year long residency as part of the LAB Co. programme. There are 9 of us in the Ensemble, each with unique interests and specialities, making for a diverse and exciting troupe. Musical, irreverent and magical, we create shoestring theatre where everything on stage gets used, reused and re-imagined.
After our sold-out run, we now want to bring the show back, redeveloping it to make it even better for a wider audience. 'Whey Down South' is about community, rural life and friendship set in a fictitious Cheese-Rolling village - Little Curdlington. Due to it's themes we consider it necessary to speak to and involve our community in the next stage of the show's life. The plan is to R+D next Spring, working with partners to deliver workshops across Plymouth and Dartmoor. After this, we're going to go on tour, our first step as an emerging company in Plymouth. We need your help to raise £500, which will be used to support our marketing, workshop and travel costs. This money only scrapes the surface, so anything more will go back into the project - and consequently The Narwhal Ensemble's future.
