We are raising funds for a brand new musical production Where's Abi? Highlighting issues around bullying.
Hi Everyone
We are Beyond Face youth company! Here is a little bit of background on our project!
Our story so far
Last year we decided that we want to create a new musical from scratch and we did a workshop with professional writer Titi Dawudu. We talked about the bullying that we had experienced and witnessed and also talked about our future ambitions. Titi took our ideas and created a scratch script for us to use as a pilot. We then worked with Plymouth Music Zone to create one of the songs for the piece and we worked with Choreographer Jules Laville to create the dances. We were programmed into New Model Theatre's Outpost Season in October and got to perform a 20 minute scratch of the musical Where's Abi?
We had great feedback from the audience and many people were excited about the idea of it turning into a full length production. Titi has written and developed a longer script. So here we are now in rehearsals with Alix and Martha and about to create the new songs with Plymouth Music Zone and start the new choreography with Jules and Eli.
Why do we need your help?
-We would like to be able to have our set professionally designed and made by Nina Raines Set Designer.
-We would like to have the opportunity to take our performance to Torbay to share our work with other young people outside of Plymouth.
-We would like to be able to have good marketing facilities so that we can get as many audience members to see our production of Where;s Abi? in November. This way it might encourage more young people like us to get involved in theatre and dance in the city.
