I'm an event host and crowd warm up man who now has little work for a while, i am also a published poet and have stayed creative by creating a helpful and entertaining Children's picture book called When the Bugs Came, all about lockdown. I love coming up with fun and imaginative ideas and this is just the start of what i hope will be a long journey of creating children's literature. This is a rhyming story wit delightful and detailed illustrations.
This story follows Jacob, Isla and Mum through their Lockdown journey and is full of joy and authenticity, it has all the references to hand cleaning (singing happy birthday , clapping the hero's, homeschooling and lots more. It will be a great opportunity for children and families to reflect on this unprecedented situation. It focuses on the circumstances of lockdown as opposed to the virus itself and refers to the virus as a Bug, like many children do.
Here's a sample
‘2 Metres’? Said Jacob
Still scratching his head
‘It’s you on my shoulders
or the length of our bed’
We all stayed apart
When outside, or in shops
And talked to our family
On phones or laptops
