When Sum Neighbours Summer Street Party

Aim
Our Summer Street Party is a free family event bringing neighbours from the local area together on West End Street to connect and have fun!
When Sum Neighbours celebrate together each season with art trails, craft activities and, now, each summer, a street party! We promote the event widely - including through local schools - to offer free fun to families during the holidays. We close the street, put up tons of bunting (we make together the week before) and fill the street with crafts, games, face painting, music, tea, home made cake and more. People bring chairs and blankets and we round off the afternoon with tug of war in the park. Local businesses sell pizza and cold beer.
Our first party last summer was enjoyed by 200 people and really did connect neighbours who had never met before or had a chance to chat. The sun shone and it was a delight to celebrate coming together as a community. We're really excited to be organising the party for a second year and a donation helps us to ensure that we can provide great activities and refreshments for everyone of all ages to enjoy.
