To create and tour When Another Dragon Roars, a storytelling show inspiring young audiences to find mindful ways to express emotions.
THE STORY SO FAR

Since 2017, I have collaborated on two storytelling shows with Lucy Fiori from Petite Ullaloom- Another story from another place and Another Wintery tale. These were successful shows that we self directed and produced without funding.
So this year we decided to apply for funding to help us create the very best show that we can, and we have been sucessful in securing most of the funding we need for this show! Including support from ARTS COUNCIL ENGLAND
But we still need your help to hit our full target to deliver the work.
WHY THIS CROWD-FUNDER IS IMPORTANT!
We need a nest egg to get started- dragon sized!

The crowdfunding money will pay towards rehearsal space hire, allowing us to develop the show in a studio in Liverpool.
It will also subsidise 2 of our performances, one at Windsor Street Primary school and one at a school in Ellesmere port. We will be taking the show to these schools free of charge to them, to bolster the excellent work these schools do teaching emotional resilience.
We are creating a show that looks at the themes of anger and anxiety which affect children’s mental health. It can be difficult for children to express these emotions and know how to deal with them.

Kevin's experience of writing work that looks at this subject will prove to be invaluable to our production.
We have already secured funding to create the bulk of the work, as well as bookings to perform the show in 10 north west venues, in areas which have a higher than national average statistic of children 5-10 suffering with poor mental health. These shows are public performances in librarys and gallery spaces across the region and a pop-up theatre venue in Garston. They are also priced so that families in those areas can afford to attend them.
With the increased understanding and need for Mental wellbeing, we will focus on mindfulness as a technique that helps the children and parents understand these issues.
Working with the advice of a drama therapist, an expert in children’s behaviour, we will ensure that we have techniques that can be safely discussed and explored in this setting.
The shows will take place from 29th May in Knowsley and across Merseyside in June.
