We're back with The Race - Wheels For Heroes!

We launched this Crowdfunder back in April with the ambition to raise enough funds for 1000 NHS bikes. This time, thanks to Sky Sports, Zwift, Kevin Pietersen, Chris Froome and many more, we aim to provide not only free Brompton hire bikes to our amazing NHS workers during the Covid-19 pandemic but also bike docks at hospital trusts throughout the UK to support a permanent legacy of safe, low-cost travel for the country’s healthcare staff going forward. The more we fundraise, the more Brompton bikes and docks can go to NHS hospitals.

The ‘Wheels for Heroes’ campaign saw Brompton commit production capacity equating to an investment of up to £100,000 to fund bikes for NHS staff with a further £320k raised through partners and individuals.

Around 500 bikes out of the 800 being produced are already being used by NHS staff.

The take up of our initial offer of bikes to the NHS has been truly incredible and far beyond our expectations with demand for still far outweighing availability with over 2,000 NHS staff signed up to the scheme to date.

Wheels For Heroes will culminate through sport stars (including Chris Froome, Kevin Pietersen and many more) taking part in a virtual race live on Sky to raise further for the cause – which will mean we can put permanent docks into hospital trusts for staff to support the permanent legacy of the initiative. We hope because of this amazing opportunity we can reach our stretch target of £750,000.
