Pedal Power wants to raise funds for two more of their most popular side-by-side tricycles for people of all ages with learning disabilities. These are our most popular cycles in our sessions as they are for riders and their carers. They cost approx £7,000 each, so we are looking to fundraise £14,000 to enable us to purchase two.
The riders sit beside each other. One person steers, both can pedal. This means the users can easily communicate with each other (one of our riders and their support worker play music and sing along as they cycle!). The users can get on each side, without having to step through and the seats can easily be adjusted. These are our most heavily-used bikes as they are also ideal for people with hearing or sight impairments and for those who need assistance to pedal.
Who are we?
We are Pedal Power - a north London cycling club for people of all ages with learning disabilities. The club was set up over 20 years ago by founder Jo Roach who wanted to find a safe and caring cycling club for her daughter, only to discover there were none available, so with wonderful supporters she set up Pedal Power! Our Cycling Instructors are Bikeability qualified and our sessions are for complete beginners or those improving their cycling skills. Our specialised cycles offer a whole range of disability friendly cycles to use on any of our three of our safe, off road locations in North London. We have weekly sessions at The Emirates football stadium, Finsbury Park Athletics track and New River Sports Ground.

Why are we crowdfunding?
We have crowdfunded before and successfully purchased new badly needed cycles and been able to update the cycles we have. We wish to do this again as our side-by-side tricycles are very popular and get so heavily-used.
This year for added incentive, we also are adding a prize draw into the mix for everyone who kindly supports us and donates.
With your donations and support we can meet our financial target of £14,000 for two much needed ‘side by side’ bikes.
Everyone who makes a donation automatically goes into our prize draw for a Fortnum & Mason hamper worth £125 and a £50 Two Wheels Good bike shop voucher.
