Plymouth based Dance Company for disabled and non-disabled dancers, Wheelfever, has been selected to represent the South West for the National Youth Dance Festival at the Lowry Theatre, Manchester, in July 2016. We're very excited! We are 1 of 2 groups selected from 31 across the South West so its a great achievement and honour. In order to attend we need to pay travel and accommodation for the 3 day event for 9 people - so we need to rally your support. Our dance is exciting, it demonstrates our enthusiasm for life and represents a model of society where differences are embraced. You can watch one of our performances here.
We are performing a new piece to a film backdrop, created by local disabled and non-disabled film makers, using iconic images of Plymouth landmarks to celebrate our strong links to the city, where we belong.
We would like to take full advantage of this great opportunity of performing at a national level in a professional theatre as well as share our success by performing in local schools and community groups in Plymouth. We want to demonstrate just what can be achieved through inclusive contemporary dance performance.
We would never have expected to be able to fulfill our aspirations of dance to this level of recognition where we are entertaining and making a positive difference to others, however, we are, and we would like to show others that they can too.
Theatre Royal Plymouth have donated 6 x VIP tickets for the Funky Llama Festival.
The Festival runs on Plymouth Hoe, 12.30pm - 10.30pm, Saturday 11th June.
On 9th June we will enter everyone who pledges £10 in to a raffle to find 3 winners.
