The tennis club formed part of the Stainsby House Estate in 1885. Records show that land was purchased in 1939 and the tennis club formed as Stainsby Tennis Club, documents mention Smalley Tennis Club in 1949. Tennis has played a big part in this local community for over 80 years.

Currently we are a small community tennis club in Derbyshire with 2 grass courts and 2 hard courts. Local schools come and use the courts during the summer and we run adult and junior club sessions. The club is very much open to all and we keep joining costs as low as possible to encourage membership. We have this year won the Derbyshire under 10 Championships, we run open days and social events during the year.

Why are we crowdfunding?

In order for the club to continue providing an amazing facility for its local community we are in desperate need to re paint the hard courts before they crack and become unsafe. The club relies on volunteers for help running the club and because we are a non profit  we can struggle to find the extra money for these larger projects.

How we’ll spend the money raised

The cost of re painting the  2 tennis courts is £8.628,Sport England have kindly agreed to fund £4,314 of this figure we need to raise the remaining £4,314
