LIGHT UP WILLESDEN GREEN 

Light up Willesden Green for Christmas and other festivals in the year. Join us, the Willesden Green Town Team and Willesden Green Resident’s Association in this venture.

Many residents and businesses have commented that they miss the festive lights on the High Road and town centre.  We feel that festive lights on high streets help people to feel better, makes shoppers and visitors feel welcome, encourages more shoppers and gives us pride in our community.  Festive Lights increase footfall and therefore bring more business to the area; like they did for neighbouring Harlesden and Wembley.  

Our funding campaign aims to raise enough money over a two-year period for lighting the High Road and town centre at festive times; such as Diwali, and lights and a decorated tree for Christmas. By next year we aim to light the whole of  the town centre and High Road. We are also seeking funding from other sources.  We hope at least in our first year of campaigning that we will be able to fund a tree and some lights for December.   Our campaign has already guaranteed £1,000 worth of lights - but we need more. 

And we can only do it with your help.

We invite our community to participate through this crowd-funding campaign in bringing lights to Willesden Green. 

Your pledges, large or small, will make a huge difference. 

Questions and Answers:

TARGET :  This year our target is £5,750.   (Over two years it is £15,000).  With the money we receive this year we will aim to have as many (reusable) lights for December as we are able to buy and a decorated tree. 

CAMPAIGN ORGANISERS : Willesden Green Town Team and Willesden Green Residents’ Association have formed a committee together with the help of the Council’s Town Team Manager. 

WHAT HAPPENS IF TARGET IS NOT REACHED? Money will go to funding as many lights as we can buy and/or be rolled over for next year.

WHY CAN’T THE COUNCIL PROVIDE CHRISTMAS LIGHTS? Local authorities are facing financial problems and are focusing on saving to preserve essential services. Although the Council will pay for the electricity bill and we are receiving help via the Council’s Town Centre Manager.
