The Weston Mela will celebrate the vibrant cultures that make our community unique, creating a joyful space where people of all backgrounds

Weston Mela is a free, family‑friendly celebration of the rich cultural diversity that makes our town vibrant. Rooted in South Asian tradition, a “mela” is a joyful gathering — a place where people meet, mix and come together through food, music, dance and shared heritage.

This celebration is being shaped by members of North Somerset’s South Asian communities — Bangladeshi, Indian, Pakistani, Sri Lankan, Afghan and Nepali — working side by side to create an event that truly belongs to everyone.

The Weston Mela is entirely community‑run, powered by volunteers who are giving their time, skills and creativity to bring this vision to life. But to make this a truly unforgettable day — filled with vibrant performances, delicious food, children’s activities and cultural showcases — we need your support.

Your contribution will help us build a sustainable annual celebration that promotes unity, pride and understanding across Weston and North Somerset. At a time when some seek to divide, the Mela stands for connection, joy and shared humanity.
