We promote social inclusion by preventing adults residing in the West Wight and its surrounding areas, from becoming socially excluded and assisting them to integrate into society by providing a place and facilities where they can meet others and undertake creative, recreational or physical activities, learn and pass on skills, gain confidence and support each other socially and mentally.

0At West Wight Men In Sheds, we look upon our Shed as a collective group of people working towards a common goal. Our shed is primarily (but not exclusively) aimed at people aged 18+.
There are many reasons why you may want to join our shed. Maybe you're retired and looking to fill some of your time. You may currently be unemployed and need that 'boost' to gain confidence and skills. You may have a long-term medical condition that stops you from carrying out regular work. Or you might just want to come along and talk. Whatever your circumstances as soon as you walk through our door you will become a 'Shedder', and will be welcomed in whichever capacity you wish to be involved.
Our shed is in what was the Football changing rooms and showers at our local recreation ground. It hadn’t been used for many years, but after a lot of hard work, we have a small but fully kitted out workshop, small kitchen area with a table and chairs. We make all sorts of things such as Occasional Tables and Rocking Chairs, we turn Wooden Bowls and Harry Potter Wands on our Lathe, we make fancy Walking Sticks and have recently started wood carving and pyrography.
We don’t just do things at the Shed, we do a lot for our local community and other charities such as restoring and replacing Commemorative Benches at our local War Memorial and local greens, we’ve even refurbished tables and chairs at our Local Memorial Hall, built a Sentry Box for the Discovery Centre at Fort Victoria County Park, and built a covered Sand Pit at a Primary School.
During the COVID Lockdowns, some of our members helped deliver over 600 hot meals to vulnerable people, as well as delivering food parcels, and picking up and delivering prescriptions.
As we come out of lockdown, we have expand further to incorporate a Stamp Collectors Club and a Photography Group.
