Wem CC Nets Project

Aim

To support the development of a brand-new, ECB-approved non-turf net facility. This will offer enhanced facilities for player development.

Who are we?

Wem Cricket Club is a popular club and welcomes players of all ages and abilities. With over 300 members, it offers superb cricket facilities, high-quality coaching and friendly competition.

Based in North Shropshire, the club was one of the twelve founder members of the Shropshire Cricket League and has over 100 years of proud cricketing history. The Club’s First XI play in the Shropshire County Premier Cricket League and two further teams also play in the Shropshire County Cricket League. The club has over seventy Junior members, fields mid-week teams and has a highly successful Women and Girls section. The club has a welcoming pavilion which promotes events, private functions and opens to non-playing members.

Why are we crowdfunding?

Our current ageing net facility has served us well for many years but it is now outdated and no longer meets the demands of out growing and diverse playing community. The new facility will be in a carefully selected area of the club's grounds and is designed to meet the training needs of all of our teams from juniors and seniors to emerging women's and girls' sections. This initiative will boost participation, provide year-round access to quality practice environments and ensure that Wem CC remains a hub of cricketing excellence. 

How we’ll spend the money raised

The money raised will go directly into the fundraiser for the nets project. 

Community impact

This project will help us to continue to provide opportunities for local people to access cricket. With 3 senior teams, a midweek team, growing women's and girls' section and a thriving junior section, Wem CC is a hub for local cricket! Wem CC also has strong links to the local schools allowing for training and fixtures to support the development of cricket and sport.
