Our community project is to provide a much needed upgrading to our current 1970's village play park.
The original play park was constructed in the 1970's and consists of four swings and a slide. A seating area with tepees was added in the early 2000's but degraded quickly and there is only the seating remaining.
Our village community deserves a place to congregate and play together so we can build a stronger community foundation. After the last few years, the village deserves a morale boost and enhanced community spirit.
The land and village hall are community owned and is run by Wellbank Amenities Association on their behalf. All members of the committee are local residents and volunteers. Following a community consultation, it was clear that the residents really wanted an upgraded park. They fully supported the committee in gathering information which was used for a grant application. Due to this support, we have successfully secured a grant from SSE and Seagreen. This is a huge step towards getting our dream play park. Residents would also like a skate park.
We would really like to make our dream play park and skate park come true and make it an area for all the community, young and old, to enjoy. We are asking for support in gathering funds to achieve this. We would also like to secure and light the whole area and are fundraising for these.
