Aim

Nigel farage thinks he speaks for Britain. He doesn't, and we're going to prove it by raising £1 for every Reform UK member.

What's Going On?

Across the UK, millions of Brits are feeling a growing sense of melancholy about the direction of our politics.

We are seeing rising hostility towards migrants, attacks on independent institutions, contempt for democratic norms, and the normalisation of rhetoric that pits “the people” against democracy itself. History shows us that these moments matter - and that what we do next matters even more.

This crowdfunder exists because Britain has faced moments like this before, and each time people organised, funded democratic resistance and won. It's time, therefore, for our generation to step up and fight once more

A Pattern We Recognise

In the 1930s, Oswald Mosley built a movement that exploited economic anxiety, scapegoated minorities and wrapped authoritarian ideas in the language of national renewal. British society did not defeat him by ignoring him. It defeated him by organising, exposing and defending democratic values.

Thirty years later, Enoch Powell tried again. He mobilised fear through rhetoric that framed immigration as an existential threat. Once more, Britain did not move forward by appeasing that politics, but by confronting it in much the same way it had confronted Mosley.

History, as is often described, does not repeat itself exactly, but it does show us patterns. Each time these ideas resurface, they adapt to their moment, their media and their messengers.

Today, many people see troubling parallels in the rise of Nigel Farage and Reform UK. Once again, we are being asked to accept grievance as politics, resentment as identity and exclusion as common sense.

These are warning signs that democracies ignore at their peril:

- The use of grievance and resentment as political fuel

- The targeting of minorities and institutions

- The framing of democracy as an obstacle rather than a safeguard

- The promise of “taking the country back” without clear democratic accountability

A Global Movement, Not A Local One

Nigel Farage does not operate in isolation. He is part of a wider transatlantic political ecosystem that includes figures such as Donald Trump and powerful tech-era actors like Elon Musk. This is a world where money, media power and grievance politics intersect.

This network thrives on undermining trust in democratic institutions, attacking the media and the courts, amplifying misinformation and cultural division, and presenting strongman politics as common sense.

Across Europe and the United States, we have seen how quickly this style of politics can hollow out democratic norms once it gains power. Many people in the UK are determined that it must never be allowed to do so here.

Why This Crowdfunder Now?

Nigel Farage claims that he now leads the largest party in the UK. Whether or not that is true, one thing is clear: he does not speak for Britain as a whole.

At moments like this, it is not enough to simply hope that extreme or divisive politics will fail. History shows us that democracy is not defended by hope alone. It is defended by infrastructure.

By researchers who expose misinformation.

By campaigners who protect voting rights.

By journalists, lawyers, teachers, technologists and organisers who hold power to account.

These organisations already exist in the UK - but they are under-resourced compared to the forces working against them. We don't have billionaires to fund us, so we'll have to do it ourselves.

That’s why we are raising £1 for every Reform UK member - currently around £270,000 - to create a democracy war chest for organisations working to:

- Protect free and fair elections

- Challenge disinformation and political manipulation

- Defend civil liberties and minority rights

- Strengthen democratic participation and accountability

This is not about party politics. It is about ensuring that Britain remains a country where power is constrained, truth matters, and everyone belongs.

How It Works

- We will raise £1 for every Reform UK member

- All funds will be distributed to pro-democracy organisations in the UK

- Donors will be able to suggest worthy recipients, alongside pre-vetted partners

- Full transparency will be published on where every pound goes

Our History - And Our Responsibility

Britain has faced moments like this before.

We defeated Mosley’s movement.
We rejected Powell’s politics.
And today, we have the opportunity - and the responsibility - to defend democracy again.

This crowdfunder is one way to fight back: not with fear, but with funding; not with despair, but with organisation.

If you’re worried about the future - this is something concrete you can do today.
