We're committed to enriching the community for everyone, especially those who are fleeing troubles in other countries.
Be Enriched has a successful track record of serving socially and economically vulnerable individuals and families in South London, especially through our weekly Community Canteens, which provide nutritious, hot three-course meals made from surplus produce.
Our Tooting Canteen, which is supported by a cadre of dedicated local volunteers has been running for a decade.
One of our long-time volunteers, a retired ESOL teacher who is involved with several local refugee charities, is inviting Tooting-based refugees to our Canteen venue, the United Reformed Church in Graveney for warmth, refreshments and ESOL lessons before joining other guests for our regular hot lunch. Our refugee guests will also have the opportunity of getting involved with creation of our meals and contributing their cultural culinary traditions and skills.
This project will not only bring direct benefit to Wandsworth-based refugees and asylum seekers but also expand and diversify the community of that already gathers at our Tooting Canteen on Fridays.
Although Be Enriched receives support from trusts and partner organizations, individual donations are an important source of funds and Crowdfunding is a very effective way to reach out to our supporters.
While we are very good at running on a shoe-string and keep costs as low as possible, we do require funds to run our canteens. Funds raised will contribute to rent and heating costs, transportation stipends for guests, refreshments and teaching supplies.
