To run a lunch club each week for veterans and the community who are struggling with the cost of living crisis.
Our amazing team of volunteers many of them Armed Forces Veterans, cook a tasty, healthy two course meal for the less well off members of our local community. Ex - forces volunteers bring people into the lunch club, socialise with them and take them home. They are often able to take a small portion home for the following day too.
We make meals on a budget which cost between 50p and £1 which is amazingly good value but the favourite meal is a roast dinner and that tends to cost more so without funding we can’t offer a roast very often.
We want to use the money to buy more food to prepare meals on a weekly basis for 40-50 of our most vulnerable local residents. Many of them live alone and don’t have a home cooked meal only managing to heat up ready meals and grab snacks.
This initiative was launched after finding so many people had lost confidence to get out and about after Covid, others had lost loved ones during Covid and were struggling to get back to normal. Loneliness had become a huge factor in their lives and we work hard to combat this by offering many different activities at our Community hub, including meals.
