Help us grow more local organic food

We are a small, local workers cooperative based on Blackhaugh Community Farm. We believe that people should be connected to where their food comes from and be part of the farm community. We want to show that food growing can be environmentally sustainable and beneficial for biodiversity.

We need your help to grow more organic, local food. We grow ecologically using mostly hand tools and need to be efficient to survive in a competitive market.  We make many of our own tools but some specialist tools that we need to succeed are expensive and outwith our budget.

That's why we're asking for help to buy a Terrateck double wheel hoe with biodiscs and Lelievre blades. This tool greatly speeds up the weeding process which allows us to spend more time harvesting crops and seeding new ones. If we reach our target for the weeder then we have a stretch target for a vacuum seeder. This will allow us to sow trays and trays of organic seeds in a fraction of the time it currently takes. Hand sowing every seed is a slow and back-breaking process when we should be spending more time getting organic veg into the local community.
