VIRTUAL MERCH TABLE

I’m both saddened and heartened by the need to write some more words here in support of The Betsey.

Saddened because it is necessary.

Heartened because she is still there. Still kicking and still very much loved.

Plans were afoot for increasing socially distanced events and bringing back Come Down and Meet the Folks. Some small events had already taken place. Cocktails were being mixed (a new and very welcome addition - thanks Ange!) and all the tables were booked at weekends. People travelled some distance to meet up with friends and support Raz and Patrick and the team. As ever, The Betsey was back to being a social hub that brought a community of artists and arts lovers together.

And then we went back into Lockdown.

Ho hum.

Well, never ones to sit idle, Raz and Patrick have pressed on with filling their time - and that of Danny Champ and Alan Tyler - by coming up with yet another music and spoken word extravaganza.

This time round we get many new artists and just a smattering of ones from the first  event - no way could Parenthesis Dot Dot Dot be excluded (look out for something special there) - with a virtual Come Down and Meet the Folks set in the middle of it all.  Alan and Patrick have pulled together a set of ‘Folks’ artists as a centerpiece and we have Big Steve Arlene reprising his role as a driving force for Folks.

Once again, it’s artists from near and far with some impressive names from the worlds of music and comedy jumping out like Bridget St John, Dean Owens, Leo Kelly (from Tír na nÓg), Peter Holsapple, Henning Wehn and John Shuttleworth. Although it’s unfair to single anyone out of such an impressive list.

It’s going to be another brilliant night and it will be wonderful if you can join us - and even better if you fancy throwing a few coins into the coffers to keep the venue (and the team) alive so we can all enjoy it in the real world when we’ve had the jab.

See you on Sunday and let’s all make sure our beloved Betsey just keeps truckin’ on!
