Aim
WE LEAK INSIDE aims to encourage conversations about communication, emotional honesty, and human connection.
My name is Vashane Manroe, and I am a writer, actor, and emerging filmmaker passionate about telling emotionally honest stories that explore family, identity, healing, and human connection. My goal as a filmmaker is not only to entertain audiences but to create stories that encourage reflection, growth, and meaningful conversations. I want to make films that people can learn from, find themselves in, and carry with them long after the credits roll. I also hope my work can inspire younger generations by sharing knowledge, life lessons, and perspectives from a place of love, understanding, and peace.
I come from a family of 13 siblings across different households, connected through the same father. Growing up, I experienced firsthand how difficult communication can be within families and how much can remain unsaid for years. Those experiences, along with my own struggles with expressing emotions, became the foundation for WE LEAK INSIDE.
My team and I have successfully completed a film project before, which taught us valuable lessons about storytelling, collaboration, and independent filmmaking. However, WE LEAK INSIDE represents a significant step forward for us. This story carries a deeper level of personal truth, care, and emotional investment. Because of that, we want to approach it on a greater scale, elevating every aspect of the production from cinematography and sound design to performances and visual storytelling to create something truly impactful.
The film follows Grey, a young man who feels disconnected from his family despite being surrounded by them every day. Through poetic imagery, memory sequences, and the recurring motif of water, the story explores how the emotions we suppress eventually find a way to surface. At its heart, it is a film about silence, vulnerability, and the courage to speak when words feel impossible.
My vision is to create a visually cinematic and emotionally immersive short film that resonates across generations. While the story is deeply personal, I believe its themes are universal. In a world where people are increasingly connected through technology but often disconnected emotionally, WE LEAK INSIDE asks audiences to reflect on what they may be holding inside and the conversations they may need to have.
The money raised will go directly into bringing the film to life and ensuring we can achieve the quality this story deserves. Funding will support cast and crew, equipment hire, locations, production design, catering, transport, insurance, and post-production. Every contribution will help us create a film that is not only visually compelling but emotionally meaningful.
