The rumours are true; I've written a book. I need your help to get it published into the big world and give it the launch it deserves.
We Have More: Following Pulp On Tour. Publishing early 2027.
The rumours are true and I have written a book. This has been nearly a year in the making and keeping this secret has made me feel like a rather uncomfortable mother hen sitting on her egg, so it's a relief it's initially been announced. Thunderbirds are go.
In this book, I will take you on my journey from discovering Pulp in my small working class village of origin to witnessing them perform across the world, and everything that has occurred in-between. I'll tell the story as to how modern band culture brings together individuals in which bonds are tied for life; first online, and then on the barrier, all our birthdays coming at once, watching our favourite band arm-in-arm, drenching in sweat and tears. Friends become chosen family as we bond together on urine covered pavements and feel dread as the time of doors reaches ever closer. We've come a long, long way together with so many shared, insanely ridiculous adventures between us; all tied together by the beautiful, neatly tied bow of Pulp's music.
I hope to answer your burning questions, including the one I most get asked: "how do you do it?", closely followed by "how do you afford it?" I will give you an insight into how planning and following a tour as a fan truly works, detailing highs and the very low lows of accommodation, travel and budgeting across the world. Every hostel room looks the same in the dark. Your exhausted eyes just want a pillow, anyway.
I was blown away by the reception my Substack blog post, "My Life Following Pulp On USA" received at the end of 2024. The feedback, warmth and interest I received documenting my adventures from Chicago to Los Angeles, at the dawn of what-was-to-be More cycle, was overwhelming. Little did I know that band members were reading when they were recording their first album in 24 years. It was the experience of writing that piece that inspired me to put words to the feeel-ings, to document the collective adventures that deserve to be written down. No one but you, no one but you, no one but you.
How did we go from detainment to a dive bar in under 20 hours? How do you go to the loo when you're in a queue for over nine hours, if not more? Do Pulp ever change their set? Are Patchwork...Pulp?
To publish this book, I do need your help. I want to give my book the launch it deserves so anything you can contribute will help get it off the ground, published as physical copies, with a celebratory launch evening in the new year. I am self-publishing, and working out how to get this off the ground, so bare with me. I can ensure you, though, that any contribution will help me publish and get this book into hands of Pulp, music and gossip-loving individuals.
Official cover to come soon. Let's rock.
