‘We Are Here, Because You Were There: Afghan Interpreters in the UK’ by Andy Barnham and Dr Sara de Jong documents the experiences of Afghan interpreters who were resettled to the UK under the Afghan Relocation and Assistance Policy (ARAP), launched in April 2021, through photo portraiture and interviews.
The art catalogue (£10) presents the portraits and stories of 14 Afghan interpreters in England, Scotland and Wales.
100% of the proceeds of the sales of the art catalogue will go to the charity Sulha Alliance, which has worked with Afghan interpreters and other Locally Engaged Civilians (LECs) for years, both campaigning to get them out of Afghanistan and supporting their resettlement in the UK.
