Greenhouses in schools offer an array of benefits that go beyond traditional classroom learning. Having a school greenhouse is an amazing opportunity to teach hands-on lessons to students of all ages. A greenhouse project for students not only kindles practical skills, along with curiosity and creativity, but it can be used as a tool for integrating lessons of all kinds. Inside a greenhouse classroom, we hope students can learn directly about weather, plant and insect biology, and ecology. A greenhouse can teach students about soil structure, while a microscope can uncover a whole new world of microorganisms! By learning how to grow plants, students also learn about photosynthesis, the importance of light, heat, and oxygen. Spending time in the greenhouse encourages students to appreciate the beauty of the natural world, fostering a deeper connection with the environment. In summary, educational greenhouses empower students with practical skills, scientific knowledge, and an appreciation for nature. Our aim is that children will participate in growing plants, propagate them, and even sell them as part of a school fundraiser.
