WCWC & WCT 2025 Carbon Compensation With RHC

Aim

Raising funds for River Holme's Tree Planting Programme to compensate for CO2 emissions by WCWC & WCT and improve the river environment

Rather than funding a commercial offsetting site, it was agreed by the WCWC Court and WCT Trustees that it would be more appropriate for us to fund the tree planting currently underway at River Holme Connections, raised by donations from Company members and WCT Trustees. This would be most appropriate for us as we would be funding something that was associated with an improved river environment.

Based on figures from commercial sites such as “Make It Wild” by planting 12 trees a year we could compensate for a carbon footprint of 42 tonnes per annum. These trees should mature within 10-15 years meaning we would be “Net Zero” before the City Corporation’s target for the Square Mile of 2040.
