Help Watford Swimming Club to raise funds lost by not holding open swim meets and get the swimmers back on competitive form.
Watford Swimming Club is one of the top competitive swimming clubs in Hertfordshire. Our aim is to therefore maximise every swimmer’s potential in the pool, whilst ensuring they make friendships in a fun and enjoyable environment.
Over the past few years the club has gone from strength to strength. The swimmers in our club compete at their own level of ability and can go as far as possible. This may be from Club, County, Regional, National standards and beyond.
The club will be celebrating its 120th anniversary this year!
Watford Swimming Club has been hit hard by Covid. Without the popular open meets that we normally run, we have lost up to £40,000 revenue.
Membership fees do not cover the total costs of running the club and the gala revenue subsidises this. Without it we are losing money, approximately £1,000 per month.
In addition when we have been open in between lockdowns, we have had to comply with Covid regulations such as reduced swimmer load in the pool therefore reducing the number of hours for each swimmer and increasing pool costs.
This Crowdfunder will be used to directly fund additional pool time so that swimmers can catch up on their hours and prepare them for the season to come.
Our target is £8,000. We have received some great rewards from local companies, so please help us to show our support back to them by purchasing the rewards. We can do this #ONETEAM

The club has a big focus on team swimming events, successfully competing in the National Arena League as well as the Hertfordshire Peanuts League.

Two of our senior swimmers Lewis and Ollie qualified to compete at the Olympic Games Trials. Unfortunately with Covid, the delay in trials and the lack of time in the pool, they took the difficult decision not to enter. However this is a massive achievement especially as Lewis is only 16. Our funding will help us secure them extra pool time so that they can work towards 2022 events.

During the three lockdowns the coaches have worked hard to keep the swimmers engaged and their activity levels up. These include zoom hit workouts, running and cycling challenges, cooking classes and even an escape room. The swimmers did a great job keeping fit and motivated but are so ready to be back training hard!
