Penryns' community field, a place to reconnect with nature and each other, needs a borehole for water, so we can grow food for all to enjoy!

 New stretch target

We want to put in an access track, for different mobility needs, so the field can be enjoyed by all. We would like to buy a community tractor, so the field can reach it's full potential in growing food and supply as much of the local community as possible with fresh, nutricious, local produce.

Penryn – Lets grow together!

Six months ago Falmouth Food Co-op took on the lease of a beautiful 8 acre field, walking distance from Penryn town centre. It is a field for all to enjoy and has already become a place to re-connect and dream.

We dream of...

Growing as much delicious, nutritious, sustainable food as possible and to share it with those who need it the most. The food will support local people and be used by the Falmouth Food Co-op Kitchen (FFCK) that cooks delicious food for free, for anyone who needs it in the surrounding area.

So far...

Loveland is already a hive of activity, with new and reoccurring volunteers getting stuck in, growing and meeting new people in the Saturday volunteer sessions. Showing how much this space is needed.

We need your help.

To be able to grow food through the dry months, we must bring water to Loveland. We need a borehole at Loveland to have a reliable water source. With water, we can grow an orchard, a forest garden, fresh salads, vegetables and herbs. Water will transform this former arable field, into a beautiful abundant sanctuary that will produce fresh local food for Penryn and Falmouth, reducing emissions from transported produce and offer a multitude of opportunities for community growing, cooking, learning and activities around food.

Who are Falmouth Food Co-op?

Falmouth Food Co-op are a local food co-operative enabling people to buy food from local farmers and suppliers and encourage the connection between people, food and community.

Since March 2020 Falmouth Food Coop Kitchen has been providing food for people who need it most through the delivery of nutritious hot meals. Our vision is that the field will provide another link in the chain, providing us with fresh, local produce for the meals we cook and enabling people who receive food from the kitchen to come and be involved in the production of that food. We plan to set up a field kitchen at the site so that people can grow, cook, gather and eat together; increasing community togetherness and reducing social isolation.

What do we need funding for?

We need;

  • A borehole – for on site water.
  • Irrigation – systems that will water plants efficiently.
  • Water storage - for different areas of the field

Why?

Growing, cooking and eating together to heal the planet, this is our opportunity to transform this field for everyone to enjoy. A place to reconnect with nature and each other through work, education and play. Encouraging small acts of local leadership, this is a space to make happy mistakes, learn by doing, dream green and make good things happen. We want to help grow a sustainable and resilient community that enjoys creating a positive future together.

Let’s get our hands dirty – lets produce an abundance of food and leave room around us for wildlife to return. Let’s build a kitchen and cook this good food together so nobody knows hunger or loneliness.

How you can help.

We are doing a LIVE 24hr long Crowdfunding event from the 9th to the 10th of June! We will be sharing how the field has effected the local community so far, what has been done on the land and what dreams there are for the future. We will be celebrating the power of water with poetry and art. If you, your community group or business would like to be involved in this 24hr live event please get in touch, we would love to hear from you!

We would love for you to fundraise for us. Please follow the link to find out how. From running to art classes, your skills can help us reach the target!
