I aim to carry out frequent water testing on the river Tywi and other rivers for a study regarding the health of its inhabitants.
My name is Lee Nulty and I live in Llandeilo, South Wales. I am a keen fisherman that has a passion for the environment and everything that lives within it. Over a number of years, I have been carrying out my own research into understanding why we have such a declining population of salmon and sea trout.
My studies so far have found there are many factors that contribute to the decline, and one of them is water quality. I know this because I was kindly loaned a water sampling kit where I tested various areas and had some pretty worrying results. The kit that was loaned to me is shared amongst many, which means I cannot be thorough in my own water testing process, hence why I’m looking for funding to purchase my own equipment.
The equipment will be used to carry out multiple samples from the same location to build a picture of how the quality of water is affected during different conditions and times of the year. The equipment will also be available for those who have particular concerns regarding their own area or body of water, which might be contaminated in some way.
So basically, this will not only be my sampling kit; it will be for everyone local to Llandeilo and the Tywi catchment. All you will need to do is take a sample of the water and bring it to me, or I can come to you with the equipment and test it for you give almost immediate results.
If this is something you might be interested in or indeed have concerns about your own local water quality please consider making a donation.
Kind regards
Lee Nulty.
