Aim

To refurbish, renew and modernise areas across our ground, making this a more welcoming environment for all players, members and spectators

Who are we?

We are a small, friendly cricket club located in the village of Warton, near Carnforth. The club was founded in 1907 and have a long and proud history of cricket in the local community. Our ground, located in the heart of the village, is a beautiful setting for cricket, surrounded by trees and rolling hills. The facilities include a pavilion, practice nets, and a well-maintained square. We also host social events throughout the year, including quiz nights, barbecues, and live music, making it a hub of the local community.

Our committee recognise the importance that junior cricket plays in the future of our club so last year we successfully ran All Stars, the ECB programme, where we had 20 new 5-8 year olds experience cricket for the first time. This year we are extending our offering, running both ECB programmes (All Stars & Dynamos) as well as entering an U9 and U11 side back into the junior leagues. This years programmes has just begun and we have 45 children signed up to participate in cricket this summer.

Our plan - transformation of our pavilion

We have launched this Crowdfunding campaign to help transform and modernise our pavilion, helping to make it a welcoming location for all of our cricket members and other local community groups who use it.

This is the first part of a longer term plan that seeks to completely transform our pavilion as well as the practice facilities that are currently on offer. Other grant applications are being submitted to try and secure further funding to cover the cost of other parts of this vision - for example, the need to upgrade our electricity feed into the pavilion to then allow us to renovate our changing facilities and add a female changing room to the building. We're hoping to have funding secured for the electric cable this summer and the work - to be completed by club members - undertaken in the autumn of this year.

The funding raised by this campaign will help kick start our transformation by upgrading or replacing items in and around our pavilion that really the Club urgently requires and have been chosen as they will bring an immediate benefit to all who use our facilities.

How we’ll spend the money raised

  • We'll upgrade our till system so we can easily manage card transactions.
  • Replace our existing oven.
  • Purchase a new fridge to hold drinks behind the bar, much needed due to the increase in juniors and the need to refrigerate more soft drinks!
  • New club signage at the front of the pavilion.
  • Replace the fencing outside of the front of the pavilion.

Community impact

Warton CC takes its place in the community seriously and we do what we can to encourage people to take up the game of cricket for fitness, mental wellbeing and just being part of the cricket club family.

But the facilities are not just used for cricket. The Hyning is also the home of Morecambe Bay Archers from April to October, where they run a variety of different archery sessions three times a week.

In addition to this, the Club's facilities are used by a number of different caravan groups outside of the cricket season. We often host groups of over 30 caravans for the entire weekend and they will often use all of the facilities that we have to offer in the pavilion.

Our club has faced numerous challenges over the past few years, including the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, the rising cost of living, and struggles to keep a competitive mens team running. Your contributions will help with our strategy of making our ground a more welcoming space for all especially young players, this key to secure the clubs long term existence. Additionally, your donations could help us secure extra funding from Sports England. Please consider pledging today to help us bounce back, bigger and better.

How you can play your part

There are four simple ways to help us reach our target, and make this project a reality.

1. Make a pledge. Don’t delay if you’re going to support us because momentum is key to our success!

2. Spread the word. Share our project on your social media pages and tell the world to get behind us! The more people we reach, the more support we will get.

3. Offer rewards. Get involved if you are a local business by donating things we can offer to our supporters. We will give you a shout out!

4. If you want to run your own fundraiser to support us, maybe a sponsored activity or similar, use the 'contact project' button at the top of our page to let us know. Setting up your own page only takes a few minutes and you won’t need any bank details. Just a fun idea!

Please help us!

Warton Cricket Club needs your help to raise the required funds to achieve our immediate aims and help provide the facilities needed by our club members and the local community to learn and play the sport we all love.
