The cost of living crisis is challenging our community. Please help us to provide a warm, safe space to meet and share skills each week.
Our community centre provides multiple spaces where people can learn, dance, play, eat and meet together. We do this by hiring the space at a very low cost to to community groups and local people. In addition we run a number of community projects including a weekly community fridge, a monthly repair cafe, term-time community cookalong and have recently launched a free weekly hot lunch.
We know that there are people in our community suffering behind closed doors, worried about heating their homes and lonely without people to talk to and share their experiences with. We want to open our community centre more widely to provide a regular warm space for residents to meet, make new friends and build new experiences without the pressure to pay or exchange money for services.
The lockdown has impacted our community's confidence deeply but we know that by providing a safe, warm space for people to enjoy and connect again, we can bring a newly revived resilience to our community and their neighbours.
"OMG took my parents to the bath house for lunch today. Very friendly with great 3 course meal
then shepherdess pie with broccoli and cabbage followed by banana crumble & custard . Well done all involved
"
We are asking local businesses and organisations that would like to help us to raise funds so that we can work in collaboration with our partner projects and programme time and activities that build on our learning within the centre, that are staffed and make our community centre available to those that need a warm space, company and something hot to eat every week. Single donations up to £250 made via this crowdfunder will be matched by Coop.
The Old Bath House and Community Centre relies on hire income to pay for heating, staff and overheads. The funding raised will secure dedicated time for these warm space activities.
Co-op Warm Spaces Funding Boost has provided £2,990 of match funding
