Contine to offer this service from March 2023 when funding comes to an end
we aim to enable the most vulnerable residents to get access to much-needed services and opportunities which they are unable to access anywhere else and to ensure they are fully involved and engaged in the many initiatives that come to the estate, ensuring they are tailor-made to the needs of the area and thereby increasing their effectiveness.
We do this work by maintaining excellent relationships with our partners, delivering many successful initiatives over the years and by ensuring our management committee are empowered and supported to have a strong voice in the local area. The Centre works in partnership with over a dozen key agencies in the area, including the police; the local authority; some national charities with a base locally and the local Children’s Centre. We provide a hub for activity; communications and decision-making and our partners report that their work is significantly more effective because of our involvement and leadership. In addition to these regular activities, we also try to respond to the community’s requests for particular projects such as Training Courses, Community Events and support and advice on current issues. We aim to overcome isolation and encourage inclusion and generally contribute to improving the quality of life for all sections of the community. Using the deprivation index the Brandwood and Kings Heath area is in the Most Deprived 20% of the country, indicating a need for assistance in the local population in terms of support in improving people’s circumstances, offering better pathways to more positive destinations.
