A warm welcoming space where you can meet with friends, make new friends around hot drinks, toast, cake, etc. as well as learning new skills
We are simply a small group of like minded people who wanted to create safe places where members of the community could get together, connect and even find new interests, if so inclined. Over the winter months the Warm Welcome Spaces Whitland have been providing spaces in the community and offering different activities every day of the week (except on Sunday) in different locations . Under the leadership of the Whitland Memorial Hall some groups in Whitland came together so people could find a warm place any day of the week. At each location volunteers provide a warm welcome, hot drinks and refreshments and a wide range of activities. Activities range from puzzles, games, yoga, students homework space, craft tasters, etc.

It’s important to explain the wider impact of your organisation for the whole community, who does it benefit and why?
So far, through the Warm Welcome Spaces Whitland, we have been able to extent the hours the local library is open and provide a comfortable sitting area for users to sit while reading, chatting, having a hot drink, etc. This encouraged the use of the library facilities while providing a safe environment open to all.
The learning support session provided a safe place for revision studies with support from a qualified secondary school teaching assistant and Mind also collaborated and opened its doors even wider at their drop-in weekly sessions providing mental health support.
In the Memorial Hall the Craft Taster Sessions have been a great success where local crafters have been teaching anyone interested how to knit, make cards, paint ceramics, needle felting, etc. It has been a very cheerful and friendly way to spend a few hours in the morning and a very good example of inter-generational exchange of skills.
This is where you should explain the reason you need to raise money. How is your organisation or community impacted by the cost of living crisis?
We are crowdfunding to raise funds to continue to be able to provide safe spaces where people who might be lonely and isolated can come together and interact, enjoy free food and learn about each other and even learn new skills.
It’s important to be transparent about how you plan to spend the money you raise. Your audience will be more likely to make a pledge if they can see how their donation will help.
The money raised will be used to pay for the use of the facilities, heating, refreshments and materials needed for the activities to be organised
