Aim

Padley's aim is that no one in Derby and Derbyshire suffers from homelessness, poverty and the cost of living crisis.

Who are we?

Padley Group is Derby’s local charity that has been working to support the people of Derby since 1985

We support and empower those affected by homelessness, poverty and, most recently, the cost of the living crisis to improve their lives.

We work in partnership with other organisations and agencies so those affected by homelessness, poverty and the cost of living crisis can access shared support pathways and receive the most effective and holistic services.

In 2022 we cooked 2,638 hot meals for people visiting our Day Centre and those out in our community who do not have access to cooking facilities. We handed out 2,044 food, 739 clothing and 1,433 toiletry parcels. We now have 18 people staying in our supported living flats across the city.  We have also had 1,489 visits to our Day Centre seeking support and attending our sessions.

Community Impact

The Warm Welcome @ Padley will impact the community of Derby as this will be a warm space providing all of the services we have mentioned below to anyone over 18 years of age.

Why are we crowdfunding?

Many in Derby have to choose between heating and eating because of the cost of living crisis, and as we saw before the winter started, even when the heating wasn't on, people were still struggling to afford basic needs. We have only received funding to run this project until the end of March, but we will keep this project running throughout the year. Please help us to fund this project and keep our warm welcome going.

  • Emergency parcels of Food, toiletries, clothes and facilities to meet basic needs such as toilets, showers, laundrette and hot meals to eat in or take away.
  • Support and advice on housing, welfare and healthcare and any other issues that may be blocking people from leading a secure and independent life.
  • Training and volunteering opportunities
