Aim
To provide a warm space 3 part days a week, providing: hot refreshments, wifi, games & crafts & a hot shower, free lunch on Wednesdays.
Who are we?
We are Mill End Baptist Church
Community impact
We have been serving the community of Mill End for over 200 years. Our current community based activities include community lunches, a toddler group, CAP (Christians Against Poverty) courses on Life Skills & Money Management, Chrysalis, a group especially for people with learning disabilities and community events such as Easter egg hunts, light party, farm days and social evenings. This is all in addition to our regular church services, youth and children's groups.
Why are we crowdfunding?
We want to continue our warm space initiative through to the end of March and are taking steps to increase the numbers coming. We currently see over 50 different people coming to one of our days each week and wish to increase that. We need to fund the extra cost of providing meals, refreshments and energy costs e.g. water and space heating. We are seeing significant impact on the cost of living in our community especially on energy bills.
How we’ll spend the money raised
We will use the money raised to fund our warm space initiative through to the end of March. The money will be sent on food, energy and staff costs (we have employed someone especially to head this up and cook a meal). it is costing us about £1,500 per month to run our warm space. We want to be prepared to run it again next winter.

HCC Community Innovation Fund has provided £500 of match funding
