Support us to keep our doors open for disadvantaged young women this winter.

by Ms Ellie Phirer in London, Greater London, United Kingdom

Our rent and utilities costs have risen by 50%!!

We need YOUR support to keep our doors open for more than 200 disadvantaged young women who call Teen Action home.

Who are we?

Teen Action supports young women aged 16-19 years from North London’s minority communities, addressing gaps in provisions for BAME young women with specific cultural and/or socio-economic needs, who have historically high levels of deprivation, poverty & exclusion.

We support through group and 1:1 provisions designed to develop skills, improve education outcomes, promote health/wellbeing, and support them as they transition to employment/independent living; creating better futures.

We are a grassroots charity led by young people and women from our community, holders of the London Youth Gold Quality Mark.

Community impact

Primarily our services allow minoritised young women to access supplementary education, employment, and well-being support, which they would otherwise not have access to.

This leads to long-term improvements in the way of attainment, employment, and well-being and reduces historically high poverty and inequality in our community.

Why are we crowdfunding?

After decades of operating in hired spaces, and out-of-hours, Teen Action have secured premises in the heart of our community which will welcome young women daily and give them a space to call their own.

There is a catch though.

This comes at a cost of £25,000/annum (including rent and utilities), almost 50% more than what we've paid to date for running costs!  The higher costs are well justified, as they will allow us to scale our delivery and be open all hours; responding to growing demand.  However, we urgently need support to cover the increase in costs to keep our doors open, providing a warm and welcoming space for disadvantaged young women, many of who experience high levels of poverty and find no refuge at home, in overcrowded spaces.

How we’ll spend the money raised

Funding will go directly towards keeping our doors open, covering growing rent and utilities costs estimated at £25,000 for this year, an increase of more than £8,000 since last year!

A donation of £68.50 will allow us to keep the doors open for a day.

A donation of £480 will allow us to keep the doors open for a week.

A donation of £2,083 will allow us to keep the doors open for a month.

Got an idea like this?

Over £200 million has been raised from our crowd to support the projects they love! Plus tens of millions more unlocked by our partners.
