Help us to continue our work offering a warm community space to our existing groups and to open up for more over the coming year.
Florence Park Community Centre provides a warm space for the local community to connect and support each other.
Our existing groups are essential, popular and more important than ever, especially now when people have the added concerns around the cost of living:
Over 60’s Lunch
Rachel and her team of up to eight volunteers run our weekly Free Friday Lunch for the over 60's of our community. It is a warm space to connect with friends and to enjoy together a homemade hot lunch and pudding. Each week we cater to around 30 people, delivering out to a couple more in the community who can't make the trip to the centre.
We have joined with the Oxford Food Hub and the Oxford City Farm who provide our ingredients and we are happy to support the challenge of fighting food waste. This is our 7th year of running this lovely & essential group - and we would love to keep it running through 2023 with your help - just £85 per week enables us to run this service, which is less than £3 per person!
Baby Group & Toddle Time
Sarah is joined by five regular volunteers who help her to offer a welcoming space to parents and carers and their new-borns, then later to the crawlers and toddlers. Each week we offer this free-to-access space for support over a warm cuppa and freshly made cake to well over 40 parents and carers with their babies. Both these sessions can keep running for just £90 a week – that’s just over £2 per head!
The Donations You Give
Money donated will be matched by AVIVA and used to sustain the groups we already have in place, and to enhance the sessions to support people through the cost-of-living crisis by extending them to include information sharing, help and tips on energy saving and finances.
We will also use the donations to add in other free-to-access times and events to the community over the coming winter months and into 2023 - such as film evenings, subsidised monthly Sunday lunches and communal social and informative days.
