Funding to support increasing energy bills so our village hall remains a warm, inviting space for our community through winter months
Who are we?
BHVH is an unincorporated Charitable trust, run solely by volunteers from the local community. We ensure Bomere Heath Village Hall remains available and maintained as a valuable village asset for the residents of the rural village of Bomere Heath to use for the purpose of recreation and social interaction.
What do we do?
BHVH volunteers run a not-for-profit Community Coffee Shop to enable members of the local community a warm space to have a coffee, a chat and remain connected. This facility has proved invaluable for single senior citizens who spend a little more time in a warm friendly environment.
The Village Hall is open during the week for activities such as Line Dancing, Ladies Club, Women's Institute and Toddler Group which provide community spaces for people of all ages to be in the community, build friendship and learn new skills.
We are hoping to extend existing activities on offer to Yoga for the over 55s (working with AgeUK) and Keep Fit classes like Zumba. A warm and inviting space for these community groups is vital.
There is a weekly youth group for young people in Year 6 to Year 10. This provides a vital opportunity for young people in a rural community to meet up, build friendships, have fun and navigate through their teenage years together.
Why do we need funds?
The Village Hall is a 1930’s building with separate antiquated and expensive heating systems (Oil, Gas and Electric). We will in time be undertaking improvement projects to replace and insulate our roof and upgrade our heating systems but in the meantime we are really struggling to keep our Village Hall welcoming and warm for our community in these challenging economic times.
Any money that is raised through this project will go towards covering our increasing energy bills to help keep these spaces warm and inviting for our community during winter months.
