We would like to be able to open the library for more days a week so that people can use the space to keep warm, use freely and meet others.
The Feminist Library is a large collection of feminist literature based in London. We are a library and community space and support research, activist and community projects.

As a library, we are committed to making our space available for the local community to use as a place to study, chat, relax, and stay warm and safe. We have been running many events for the feminist community, whilst also encouraging the residents of Peckham to visit the library.
The Feminist Library runs a free and accessible community engagement programme of workshops, events and book clubs (currently running Spanish, English, Polish and international book clubs), aimed at opening up and contextualising our collection, tackling isolation and fostering a culture of collaboration and solidarity within our local community. We have strong partnerships with a number of small charities and community organisations that work tirelessly to uplift the local community with very low funding, relying solely on donations from our friends scheme.
We are currently heavily reliant on donations to be able to fund library expenses. As people are struggling with the cost of living crisis, we are losing more donations, whilst also facing a vast increase in the service charge for the building we are housed in. We would like to crowdfund some money so we can open our library for longer hours and have someone coordinate this so that more people are able to use our space as a resource to stay warm, meet new people and use freely.
We will spend this money on employing a coordinator for our opening hours who can manage and train volunteers on opening the library, the bookshop and shelving. We would also like to raise funds for a computer that we could have in the library for people who maybe do not have access to a computer, and also for free searching of our catalogue.
We would also use the money to buy more refreshments and snacks for visitors and users of the library.
