A healthy food bank for all

Roots4Life provides a multi-bank service with a difference. We only provide healthy food so vegetables, pulses, tins, brown pasta or home made break and rolls. We also provide toiletries and access to support services every week.

Poverty and obesity

Did you know that poverty and obesity are closely connected and those living in poverty are more likely to be overweight and unhealthy due to cheaper foods being highly processed?

Every Wednesdays for 51 weeks a year Roots4Life provide a Warm Hub service when anyone of any age can have homemade healthy soup, cup of tea, chat to a Livewell adviser or seek advice on their energy bills, make new friends and do gardening for exercise and wellbeing.

They can also receive a free healthy food box for their household. We even run cooking classes showing people how to cook with different vegetables - from using an air-fryer to bulk cooking.  1731662966_community_meal_nov_24.jpg

Our impact

Every week up to 70 households might access our services - providing over 150 adults and children with much need support. The costs of living crisis is impacting energy bills and food costs meaning many of our service users face a stark choice again this winter of heating or eating.

We also run a gardening volunteer session on Wednesday on our 8 acre site - so even in the cold winter people can help grow vegetables in the warm of our polytunnel. And for the first year we are opening our doors for a community Christmas Lunch. 1731663053_food_june.jpg

How will your support will help?

Roots4Life all love what we do - from our staff, volunteers to community members. But the strain on small charities this winter is significant with many funders closing their doors when we need the funding most. Since opening in 2021 we have supported over 6,000 visitors. But funding and times are tough so please help us to stay open this winter.

£10 will support someone lonely this Christmas to come to our Christmas meal on Christmas day

£25 will buy 1 month supply of tea and coffee

£70 will buy us a sustainable Christmas tree to use every year

£100 will support buying ingredients for our free monthly Community Meal

£1000 will support our monthly utility bills during the cold winter months

We are Roots4Life. We are Community!
