Our dream is to have our Church and Community Hall engaged, busy and bustling at all...
We have a newly refurbished Community Hall and we want to expand our hours, our activities and our access to the community as a Warm Space.
We are a Community based Church and we are committed to outreach and engagement with our community on Beacon Road (Wibsey) and the surrounding areas.

It’s important to explain the wider impact of your organisation for the whole community, who does it benefit and why?
Our church is a central hub and focal point for the community of Beacon Road. Our aim is to engage and respond to the needs of our community, all the while seeking to provide a safe, warm and welcoming space for everyone. We already host different groups of all ages and provide access to all for activities such as Chairobics, Alzheimer's Support Cafe, Baby Massage, Foodbank, Food for thought Cafe, Community Choir, Pilates, Community Forums, Inclusive Disability Groups, Asian church groups etc.

This is where you should explain the reason you need to raise money. How is your organisation or community impacted by the cost of living crisis?
Our church and community have been great in offering financial support for the refurbishment of the building. What we now need are extra funds to provide heating, electricity and hospitality for all the community groups that use the building. Our estimated fuel bill will rise from £3k to £12k per annum once the government support finishes in a few weeks time. Our local statistics identify a huge amount of people living on their own and also feeling lonely. We simply want to raise enough funds to ensure there is always a warm safe and friendly place for them to come to. We also want to open our doors for new activities and ideas that will enable even more engagement with all sections of our community.
It’s important to be transparent about how you plan to spend the money you raise. Your audience will be more likely to make a pledge if they can see how their donation will help.
In addition to lighting and heating for existing groups we also want to fund extra activities such as;
"Safe Surfers Group" - a group activity for anyone to stop fearing new technology of laptops, tablets and mobile phones. Showing them how to surf safely and with confidence. Additional activities include specific training on awareness of scams.
"Mens Group" - We want to restart a group for men of all ages in the community to come once or twice a month and gather around for fun, friendship, games and company. The aim is to challenge isolation, overcome loneliness and make all our men feel like they have a safe place to be warm, valued and involved.
"Community Cinema" - we would like to restart our film nights where everyone can come in and see a film in our warm building. The aim is to offer a fun and safe place for all members of the community o come along, have a cuppa and enjoy the film together. This also enables us to then invite people to other events such as the weekly community cafe.
