We know the cost of living crisis is hitting everybody hard this winter but just imagine how difficult things are for the people who have come to the UK seeking safety from oppression and persecution.
If you're seeking asylum you receive just £5.83 a day to live on - hardly enough to cover even the most basic essentials.
Banned from working whilst their claims are processed, many people are left to live in poverty for years on end, struggling to support themselves and their families.
HOW WE HELP
This is where Action Foundation helps. We provide free English classes, a warm place to live and friendly drop-ins where people new to the North East of England can pick up winter clothing, food, toiletries and even a free haircut.
Alongside this, they can access financial and legal advice and take part in life-enhancing drama and art workshops. We also provide people with the digital skills and tech they need to manage their finances, apply for courses and stay in touch with loved ones.
In the last year we've supported more than 1,700 people from 76 different countries.
CAN YOU HELP KEEP OUR MUCH-NEEDED PROJECTS RUNNING THIS WINTER?
£5 can fund a hot drink and a bite to eat at one of our Drop-ins
£10 can top up someone's phone for a week so they can video call their family and access key services
£20 can pay for a learner to travel to our language school for a whole month
£40 can pay for a full set of bedding for one of our housing clients
£70 can provide heating and lighting in one of our houses for destitute asylum seekers for a whole week
THANK YOU FOR SUPPORTING REFUGEES, ASYLUM SEEKERS AND OTHER MIGRANTS
