Aim: Waringstown wish to use this funding support to go into areas of low social depravation and areas we haven't been in before for our outreach

Who We Are

Waringstown Cricket Club, with a proud history and six All-Ireland trophies to its name, has long been a hub for cricket excellence and community engagement. Over recent years, we have focused on building strong foundations for youth and women's cricket. In 2024, our Women's 1XI won the Premier League, Challenge Cup and were runners up in the All-Ireland Final.

However, we are ready to take the next step. With the growing interest in cricket among local schools and the success of our 2024 Crowdfunder, we want to continue this momentum into new communities, to continue driving forward our club.

Why This Project Matters

At Waringstown, we believe cricket is more than a game—it is a vehicle for developing teamwork, confidence, and resilience. We recognise that cricket is often seen as a middle-class game and we hope by expanding our reach to new and under-represented areas, that we can diversify our membership and grow our club network.

Our Project

To build on our Crowdfunder programme from last year. We are expanding our schools outreach to schools that we have never been in before as well as focus on areas with high social depravation.

  • Morning Cricket Sessions in Schools: These sessions will focus on secondary schools, introducing cricket as part of their curriculum and encouraging participation in both school and club cricket.
  • Afterschool Clubs in Primary Schools: Running 10 weeks of cricket coaching at primary schools will help children develop basic skills while fostering a love for the game.
  • Quality In-Club Coaching Programme with 5 newly qualified Level 1 coaches.
  • Equipment - Hardball Batting Equipment and Ball Bundles to both support schools in their development and ensure we have the meaningful equipment to run our in-club programme successfully.

How You Can Help

With your support, Waringstown Cricket Club will:

  • Grow our outreach programme to the wider community, particularly those who may not have had the chance to experience cricket before.
  • Provide accessible cricket opportunities for over 500 young players in schools and at the club.
  • Get vital equipment to support the schools outreach programme and the expected increase in numbers at our own club programme.
  • Grow our coaching base to allow quality in club sessions as well as future outreach coaches to deliver programmes like this going forward, to ensure the sustainability of our plans.

This project will not only help Waringstown Cricket Club grow but will also ensure that cricket becomes an accessible and enjoyable sport for everyone in our local area. Thank you for considering supporting this initiative to make cricket a game for all.
