Aim

Broomhaugh & Riding Parish Council is raising funds to allow an error on our village war memorial to be corrected.

Frederick Best served with the Royal Engineers and died as a prisoner of war in Italy on 26th November 1942. His death is honoured on a war memorial at the Milan War Cemetery. In the tumultuous times following the Second World War, his death was recorded on the Riding Mill war memorial, but he was listed as serving with the Royal Air Force. We think this mistake should be corrected for posterity and to honour his memory.
