On the 18th June 2024 we'd raised £35,296 with 270 supporters in 56 days. But as every pound matters, we're continuing to collect donations from supporters.
Extra money would help us with our overall vision to equip our gym to a high standard, allowing all people from our community to be able to access and experience high performance facilities and opportunities locally rather than having to travel out of the area. After the sprung floor, the next phase will be to create a foam landing pit, fast tracks and tumble tracks etc.
Wansbeck Gymnastics and Trampolining Club is an award-winning, fully inclusive club providing gymnastics and trampolining coaching for children and adults of all ages and abilities. WGTC currently offers classes from beginners at recreational level up to national competition level. After being based at Ashington Leisure Centre for many years the club is very excited to be moving to its own dedicated facility later this year.
WGTC are crowdfunding to be able to purchase a state of the art sprung floor ready for the move to our own dedicated facility. The sprung floor will be used by all of the gymnasts attending the club, from preschool up to adults. It will enhance the experience of all of our members and allow them to learn new skills and perfect their existing skills safely. Without a sprung floor our more advanced gymnasts are not able to complete some of their skills and floor routines.

The money raised will go towards purchasing a state of the art sprung floor to be installed in our new gym.
WGTC aspires to become a centre for excellence for gymnastics and trampolining and a community hub. With a dedicated facility we will expand our range of classes allowing us to provide regular classes for disabilities, youth and adults gymnastics and trampolining, parent and toddler groups. Alongside this we will be able to support groups such as baby sling/nappy libraries, baby yoga, breastfeeding support groups etc. The new venue will also allow us to improve links with local schools and expand upon our successful leadership academy to include more opportunities in coaching, training, apprenticeships, and progression in conjunction with British Gymnastics.
The club has consistently had a large waiting list for many years and is immensely proud of its friendly, supportive and inclusive reputation. All WGTC coaches are qualified through British Gymnastics and have recently received Makaton training. The club continues to access high quality training opportunities for coaches and volunteers. WGTC has grown significantly from a small club only offering 4 recreational classes in 2012 with 24 competitive gymnasts, to an award-winning club with more than 300 members, approximately 200 on the waiting lists, and our competitive members training and competing up to national level. Having our own dedicated facility will allow us to open more classes and increase our offer to those who have been waiting patiently to join us for far too long!
2012 - 2024!
WGTC is passionate about generating more opportunities for the people of Ashington and it's surrounding areas. Ashington is an area of high deprivation, unemployment, and has a history of antisocial behaviour. WGTC provides access to high quality gymnastics and trampolining coaching to all, is fully inclusive and has a clear vision of how sport can have a positive impact on many other areas of people lives, including health and well-being, improved mental health, discipline, improving social relationships, and higher aspirations.
