Aim

Transforming our facilities to grow participation, remove barriers and create a more inclusive rugby club for everyone

Who are we?

We are Croydon Wanderers Rugby Club, a community-focused club that believes rugby should be accessible to everyone. For many years we have provided opportunities for people of all ages and backgrounds to enjoy sport, make friends, stay active and develop confidence both on and off the pitch.

Our club is powered by dedicated volunteers, coaches, players and supporters who work together to create a welcoming environment for the whole community. We are proud to offer opportunities for juniors and seniors and are committed to growing participation among women, girls and disabled people.

Our vision is simple: to create a modern, inclusive rugby club where everyone feels they belong and has the opportunity to participate, develop and thrive.

We have been supported by Sport England, who have agreed to give us matched funding to support our goal if we raise £8,200 ourselves.

Why are we crowdfunding?

We are crowdfunding to improve our facilities and remove barriers that currently prevent some people from fully participating in rugby at our club.

As participation continues to grow, particularly among women, girls and disabled participants, our existing facilities are no longer meeting the needs of all users. To create a truly inclusive environment, we need to invest in improvements that provide safe, accessible and welcoming spaces for everyone.

This project directly supports our ambition to:

  • Increase participation amongst women and girls.
  • Improve accessibility for disabled players, volunteers and visitors.
  • Create a more inclusive and welcoming club environment.
  • Support the long-term sustainability and growth of rugby within our community.

By improving our facilities, we will be able to offer a better experience for current members while encouraging new participants who may previously have felt unable to get involved.

How we'll spend the money raised

Images above show the areas we will be investing in including kitchen, changing room, showers, accessible toilet and pitch improvements

Every pound raised will help us create a more inclusive, accessible and welcoming rugby club for everyone in our community.

The funding will be used for improved shower facilities, kitchen refurbishment, accessible toilet, women friendly changing facilities and improvements to the pitch.

By investing in these improvements we will be able to offer a safer, more welcoming environment for players, volunteers, officials and visitors.

This project is about more than bricks and mortar. It is an investment in the future of our club, helping us increase participation, attract new members, retain existing players and create opportunities for people who may previously have felt excluded from sport.

The improvements made today will deliver long-term benefits for our community, ensuring that our club remains a place where everyone can belong, participate and thrive.

Community Impact

Our community work with Young Minders and Matt Ratana foundation

Our club is far more than a place to play rugby.

We provide a community hub where people come together to exercise, socialise, volunteer and support one another. Every week our facilities are used by players, families, volunteers, supporters and visitors from across the local area.

The impact of this project will be felt well beyond the rugby pitch. Improved facilities will:

  • Increase opportunities for women and girls to participate in sport.
  • Support disabled participants through better accessibility.
  • Improve physical and mental wellbeing across the community.
  • Create a more welcoming environment for families and visitors.
  • Strengthen community connections and increase volunteer engagement.
  • Ensure our club remains sustainable and accessible for future generations.

This investment will help us create a lasting legacy of inclusion, participation and community pride.
