Wally Hawkins died on Thursday 4th of June following a severe stroke.

He was one in a million:  the kindest, most creative and intelligent person we have ever know. With a childlike excitement and sparkle he touched the lives of many with songs, stories, and endless adventures: climbing mountains, damming streams, building fires, throwing spears and exploring every nook and cranny of the countryside. He approached all things in life with playfulness, humour and love.  He had a deep love of nature, knew every bird, every animal,  every flower.

He was a rebel, a performer, and a naturalist. He was the most incredible father anyone could hope for. He was the most loving  husband to Pat. Married 55 years ago to begin a life of adventure in Australia, the adventures never stopped: everything they did, they did together with love.

He wouldn't want a big funeral, even in normal times. We will remember Wally in a way in keeping with his spirit. We don't want lots of flowers. Wally hated injustice, and in these particularly difficult times, if you feel you want to give anything, a donation to Medecins San Frontieres via this page would mean a lot.

Wally Hawkins, a truly hard act to follow.
