Walk92, the Football for Good walk, highlights the amazing work Foundations are doing around the country. 92 clubs in 92 days - I did 10/92!

Earlier this year, I saw for myself the impact and outcomes that the Street Soccer Foundation were achieving through their academy programmes to help eradicate the problem of youth homelessness and was blown away.

When I heard about their Walk92 ambitions- one man- Xavier Wiggins - walking all 92 of the English Football League clubs in 92 days, to raise funds (For the Street Soccer Foundation and Sports Local Action)under the banner of "Football for Good"; shining a light on the good that Football Foundations are doing in communities. I knew I needed to support the never before done (and completely bonkers) feat!

I decided to  sponsor a couple of legs, but decided that writing a cheque was a bit half hearted so I decided I would also walk a couple of legs... which multiplied to me walking 4 legs and visiting 10 clubs!

So I ended up joining Xavier, walking up to Newcastle United, then down to Sunderland AFC for the first 2 days of walking, complete with Obi the golden retriever to Sunderland! Then joined again for 2 London legs: West Ham to Leyton Orient, to Tottenham Hotspur to Arsenal, then the never ending road (the A1!) to Barnet FC (not in Barnet FYI) then to Wembley and then finally Brentford!!

There is a certain irony to the fact that I have been on the pitch of so many clubs, and yet I've never been to a football match! But I have seen and heard about so many amazing projects creating real impact. From projects fighting knife crime; to mental health support; to wheelchair sports; to veterans programmes and many many more. The Football foundations really are the cornerstone of the community, with the club badge being the magnet that draws people in!

I hadn’t even thought about being sponsored, it was “only” 4 days after all, but that turned out to be 4 marathons’ worth of miles, about 210,000 steps, and numerous blisters!

Then I was asked by friends where my sponsorship page was!! So here we are!  Dig deep people - I will even throw some pics of the state of my feet if you pay enough.... or wont if you pay even more!! 😬
