Getting closer…

When I first started this virtual challenge, looking at the map of the UK and how far Lands End is away from Scotland seemed very daunting. Well I have certainly made progress. Look I’m nearly in Scotland. The reality is that most of my walking is in Cambridgeshire where over the next few days we are going to experience some very hot conditions (40 degrees C) ????  So walking especially with my walking partner ???? is not going to be happening. But hopefully I will recoup some miles while on holiday. May even get some hills to climb.

Your support is much appreciated.

600 mile mark reached.

Yay I reached the 600 mile mark on my #walk1000miles yesterday.

I’ve had some company too when I’ve bumped into friends whiles out and shared a walk with them.

Any money raised from this crowdfunding walk goes towards a wonderful charity called #lifecraft They are based near Mill Road, Cambridge and have been an enormous help to me over the past 18 months offering a counselling service for #mentalhealth amongst other services.

Any donation would be much appreciated. Thank you for your help so far.1656843933_9efdbdb5-64f5-49fb-b7f6-7cdcb60455cd.png

Walking for Lifecraft continues...

It’s been a while since I gave an update on my Walk1000miles2022 for Lifecraft Mental Health.

Well, I am delighted that the sun is now out, and I can walk in a t-shirt and shorts as apposed to woolly hat and raincoat.

This mouth has been my first month since I finished 18 months of counselling provided free of charge by Lifecraft. My experience of this wonderful charity has been so positive. From the day I walked in through the doors and was told that I would be able to get some help to the day I sat with a smile on my face having a cup of tea and cake with my councillor on my last day of attending therapy.

If only there had been such charities thirty-five years ago. At last, the opportunity to un-wrap those parcels which had been packed away, little did I know how this was affecting my life how was I to know that what I was feeling was post-traumatic stress I am so grateful to have been able to talk with someone who understood.

I can’t recommend Lifecraft highly enough.

My walking has been made easier by the help of our dog who you can imagine always wants to come. On those difficult days when you are not sure you want to go, she looks at me with her head tilted as if saying ‘come on then’.

As a thank you to Lifecraft and all their help I am continuing with my fund raiser, I have until January to complete my 1000 miles, but I am well on target currently at 550 miles. Any donations are still most welcome, and I am sure Lifecraft will be most appreciative.

Thank you to all who have contributed so far you are all wonderful.

I am raising money for a charitable cause that is very important to me so please donate and help me reach my target in aid of Lifecraft based in Cambridge.

I have pledged that I will #walk1000miles2022. I will be tracking my progress virtually via the app ‘My Virtual Mission’.

1000 miles is the distance from Lands End to John O’Groats, it is the equivalent of 5000 Eiffel towers. It is my aim to walk this distance over the next year plotting my progress via the app. I would love to walk the actual route however I will be walking anywhere I can, joined by my four legged friend appreciating the countryside around me closer to home and at the same time caring for my mental wellness.

A couple of years ago I had not heard of Lifecraft, having visited my GP for advice on my mental health I was directed to several charities, but Lifecraft was the one which looked most likely to be able to help. There was a long waiting list for someone to talk too but the wait has been worthwhile never had I had counselling with someone who understood.

Lifecraft is a user-led organisation for adults in the Cambridgeshire area who have experience of mental health difficulties in their lives. They offer a wide range of free services to help and support members in their wellbeing and recovery.

Here are a few examples of where your donations could be spent:

  • £15 will help towards the cost of 1 counselling session.
  • £30 helps us fund the cost of an Art Group for up to 15 Lifecraft Members.
  • £50 will help us run Lifeline for an evening.

Anything you can contribute towards helping me achieve my target will be massively appreciated by me and Lifecraft.

 Thank you.
